Frown lines can detract from even the best, most beautiful smile, giving your face an angry or sad appearance even while at rest. If you’ve started to see frown lines forming around your eyebrow area, DermaBlue has the solution: Xeomin.
Xeomin is an FDA-approved treatment specifically designed to help patients with moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. Fast-acting and effective, Xeomin can help undo years of aging and restore a healthy, glowing appearance in patients following treatment.
How Xeomin Works
As your skin ages over time, frown lines can form as the result of the repeated contraction of specific muscles underneath the skin near your eyebrows that cause the skin to furrow and fold.
Years spent making certain facial expressions, namely squinting and frowning, make the skin between the eyebrows, on the bridge of the nose, and across the forehead start to wrinkle, giving you a constant sad or angry appearance. While frown lines are more common in older people, they can appear even on younger faces, giving them an unnaturally hard and prematurely aged appearance.
Xeomin treatment works by blocking the release of the chemicals that cause these contractions, softening frown lines over time. Unlike similar treatments such as Botox, Xeomin is a highly purified neurotoxin derived from a single protein, alleviating much of the risk that your body rejects the treatment.
By reducing these muscle contractions, Xeomin can temporarily reduce the lines between your brow and restore your face to its natural resting beauty.
Xeomin Treatment Process
Xeomin treatment typically takes between 10 and twenty minutes per session, during which time your Dermablue administrator will inject Xeomin directly into the frown line-causing muscles in your forehead. No anesthesia is required; however your administrator may use a topical anesthetic or cold pack to reduce any discomfort you might feel during treatment.
Treatment Time Frame
Most patients start seeing and feeling the effects of Xeomin within a week, with many patients start to see visible smoothing around the brow area in as little as 3-4 days after treatment. Typical duration for each Xeomin treatment is up to 3 months, though this time frame can vary based on the individual.
Is Xeomin Right for Me?
Xeomin is the first and only FDA-approved neurotoxin for adults with chronic Sialorrhea, and
an excellent solution for adults with mild to moderate severe glabellar lines. It is the first treatment of its kind that does not contain additives, reducing your risk of developing antibodies against the treatment and experiencing reduced results.
Xeomin should not be used if you have any allergies to botulinum toxin, and should not be used interchangeably with other botulinum products. Consult with a licensed and trained healthcare professional to discuss the benefits and risks of treatment and find out if Xeomin is a good fit for your individual situation.
Xeomin or Botox?
Xeomin shares many similarities with another treatment, Botox: both treatments are effective at eliminating wrinkles and lines that appear over time on the face, especially forehead wrinkles stemming from excessive squinting or raising of the eyebrows. They are also dosed similarly, with one unit of Botox roughly equating the strength of one unit of Xeomin.
Likewise, both treatments also work in a similar manner, relaxing facial muscles within a targeted area by blocking nerve impulses needed for these areas to contract. Both treatments are also temporary, meaning that repeat visits and maintenance moving forward will be necessary in order to maintain consistent results over time.
However, there are also significant differences between the two treatments. While Xeomin only contains a single ingredient, Botox is composed of multiple proteins – the end result is that Xeomin patients are less likely to have their bodies develop resistance to the treatment that can limit them from seeing their desired results.
On the other hand, while both treatments have similar duration times, Botox users typically see results more quickly. Specific complications can also arise based on individual reactions to the different treatments.
