What Is Emsculpt?

what is emsculpt?

These days, Emsculpt seems to be featured in every magazine and on every morning talk show with rave reviews. It’s true—there is nothing else like it out there! Emsculpt is FDA cleared for the “improvement of abdominal tone, strengthening of abdominal muscles, development of a firmer abdomen, and strengthening, toning and firming of the buttocks.” So just how does Emsculpt work, exactly, and what is Emsculpt Treatment?

How does EmSculpt work?

We hear it every day—patients who work hard putting in countless hours at the gym to become frustrated when they still see just lackluster results.

While this may sound too good to be true, it REALLY works! The concept of this device is actually very simple. With the use of High Intensity Focused Electromagnetic Energy this treatment engages what’s called supra-maximal contractions (the kind that is unable to be achieved with voluntary muscle contractions like doing core workouts or squats at the gym). Each 30-minute treatment (we recommend starting out with a series of 4) yields the equivalent of 20,000 crunches/squats depending on which area is being treated. This device is intended to act as supplements to active, healthy lifestyles and our patients are OBSESSED!

The clinical data is what truly sets this treatment apart from the rest of the body sculpting treatments out there.

On average, the following were achieved in clinical studies on healthy patients:

• 19% reduction of fat
• 4 cm (1.5 inches) loss in waistline circumference
• 16% increase in muscle mass
• 11% reduction in abdominal muscle separation (called diastasis recti)
• 5 x increase in fat metabolism (apoptotic index increased from 19% to 92% after treatment)
• 80% patients with visible lifting effect of buttocks
• 96% patient satisfaction

EmSculpt Results

Emsculpt Results for Men:
We can define their abdomen and enhance that six pack.

Emsculpt Results For women:
We can pull in the lower abdomen (aka the dreaded pooch) and create a sleeker and sexier core. Treating the booty creates a natural and enhanced lift because each treatment simultaneously targets all three gluteal muscle groups. Who can do 20,000 squats every day at the gym? Not us!

Maintaining results is simple- our doctors usually recommends doing a treatment once every few months to keep the Emsculpt results.

Emsculpt Side Effects

The question we hear most often about Emsculpt side effects are, “Are you sore after these Emsculpt treatments?

You’d expect to be immobilized after 20,000 contractions, right? Thankfully the answer is no!

Along with the contractions during Emsculpt treatments there is also a phase of forceful tapping that releases all of the toxins and lactic acid from the treated muscles. This is the equivalent to stretching after a workout which eases discomfort.

Most patients report no issues with muscle discomfort even days after treatment.

EmSculpt® vs Coolsculpting®: Which One Do I Need?

If you’re interested in a body sculpting treatment but not entirely sure which one you need, the best thing to do is reach out to your dermatologist for a consultation. However, there are a few general differences to note between the two.

CoolSculpting:

Like Emsculpting, CoolSculpting is non-invasive and requires no downtime, and uses freezing technology to shape the body. This procedure shrinks fat through a process call cryolipolysis, which breaks up fat cells.

CoolSculpting is more suitable for major fat reduction, and targets stubborn pockets of fat in the abdomen, legs, and almost anywhere diet and exercise doesn’t seem to work.

The goal with CoolScuplting is solely fat reduction.

Emsculpt:

Emsculpt® is a great choice for patients who may not be the best CoolSculpting® candidate because they don’t have enough fat tissue to effectively treat. However, it can also be combined with Coolsculpting® for maximum results.

The primary goal of Emsculpt is to tone muscles and build muscle mass while also reducing fat.

Can you combine CoolSculpting and Emsculpt?

Yes.

For patients with higher BMI, we recommend starting with CoolSculpting® to reduce layers of fat—otherwise, you won’t be able to see the great muscle toning results that Emsculpt provides. Once heavy layers of fat have been reduced, we can burn a little more fat with Emsculpt® and build and tone the muscle underneath to create the optimal outcome.

Essentially, you’ll get the same look and feel that comes from dieting and exercising for 6 months!

We may work hard at eating well, developing good habits, and working out at the gym but still feel frustrated by the appearance of our belly fat. Sometimes we need a little push to see some really impressive results.

Emsculpt is a great option that is non-invasive, non-surgical and requires no downtime. Schedule a consultation to learn more about Emsculpt or to get help deciding which body sculpting procedure you need.

We are the only office in WNC and beyond to have an Emsculpt® device and we’re excited to be able to provide such a great solution to such a common problem. Come and see us at either of our Dermablue locations in Hendersonville and Asheville for a complimentary consultation to get started! We offer package options, maintenance deals and Abdomen/Booty combo pricing.
