Laser Hair Removal in Asheville and Hendersonville

DermaBlue is the premier center for professional laser hair removal in Asheville and Hendersonville for both men and women. We believe in achieving the best possible results for our clients. That’s why we utilize genuine laser technology, not just an intense pulse light (IPL) device.

Lutronic lasers deliver a concentrated beam of light specifically targeting the pigment (melanin) in hair follicles. This targeted approach directly damages the follicle, leading to permanent hair reduction with fewer treatment sessions compared to IPL, which scatters light with less precision. The hair laser we use also has two different types of wavelengths so it can be safely used on all skin types and tones.

With over a decade of experience in the field, our medical esthetician is a seasoned professional using cutting-edge Lutronic lasers for exceptional hair removal results. Beyond expertise, these advanced lasers prioritize your comfort and safety. Featuring a unique cooling system, they significantly minimize discomfort during treatment.

Laser Treatments for Men and Women

For many men and women unwanted hair is a nuisance, and laser hair removal is a gentle and long-lasting solution for removing unwanted hair. Laser hair removal offers unmatched convenience and long-lasting results compared to traditional methods like shaving, waxing, or tweezing. These methods can be time-consuming, require frequent upkeep, and often lead to irritation, ingrown hairs, or razor bumps.

Laser hair removal works on any area of the body where smooth skin is desired: underarms, face, neck, legs, shoulders, back, chest, bikini line, and arms

Laser Hair Removal for Men

For men, laser hair removal can target areas like the back, chest, groin, backside, shoulders, and face, offering a permanent solution to unwanted hair growth. Facial laser hair removal in particular can also help manage ingrown beard hairs or achieve a cleaner neckline and cheekline.

Laser Hair Removal for Women

For women, laser hair removal can address unwanted hair growth on legs, underarms, bikini lines, and other areas. It can be particularly beneficial for those with sensitive skin or coarse hair that tends to become ingrown.

Who is Eligible For Laser Hair Removal?

Professional laser hair removal works best on hair with pigment (color), as it works by targeting the melanin within the hair follicle. Individuals with dark hair generally experience long-lasting, almost permanent hair reduction. This is because the contrast between dark hair and lighter skin makes it easier for the laser to target the follicle effectively.

Unfortunately, gray, white, or red hair lacks sufficient pigment to be detected by the laser. Therefore, laser hair removal is not a suitable permanent solution for these hair colors.

Most people require multiple laser hair treatments, but different hair colors and types can require more.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

All lasers for laser hair removal are not created equal. At DermaBlue, we use an actual laser, NOT an intense pulse light device. This ensures the best laser hair removal results with fewer treatments. The laser we use has a large spot size and works quickly, to cover more area in a shorter time.

A minimum of five treatments are usually needed and touch-ups are usually performed once or twice a year. You will experience a noticeable reduction in unwanted body hair with every treatment.

What to Expect During Laser Hair Removal at DermaBlue

When you come to your laser hair removal treatment appointment; the area being treated must be cleanly shaven and out of the sun prior to treatment. You should avoid waxing, tweezing, and any other topical hair removal prior to treatment. If the follicle has been removed the treatment is ineffective.

You will be sun sensitive after laser hair removal treatments, so we recommend the use of sunscreen with a minimum of 30 SPF, before and after treatment. Hair in the treated area will begin to fall out over the next week or two. Some will fall out immediately. It is important to time the hair removal treatments in the right treatment interval to get the best possible results.  Your technician will review this with you.

Laser Hair Removal FAQs

How does Laser Hair Removal work?

Laser Hair Removal is an advanced and effective method that involves destroying hair follicles by using the power of laser light energy. The high intensity of laser focus ensures that the follicle is completely disabled, preventing any future hair growth.

What is the laser hair removal process like?

The laser hair removal process is straightforward and designed for maximum comfort and effectiveness. Here’s what you can expect:

1. Consultation

  • Meet with a trained technician to discuss your goals and assess your skin and hair type.
  • The technician will customize a treatment plan tailored to your needs.

2. Preparation

  • You’ll be asked to shave the treatment area 24–48 hours before your appointment.
  • Avoid sun exposure, tanning, and certain skincare products (like retinoids) in the weeks leading up to treatment.

3. During the Treatment

  • Your DermaBlue laser technician will clean the area and may apply a cooling gel for comfort.
  • You’ll wear protective eyewear, and the laser device will be adjusted to suit your skin and hair type.
  • Pulses of laser energy target the hair follicles, disrupting their ability to grow.
  • You may feel mild tingling or warmth, often compared to a rubber band snap.

4. Post-Treatment Care

  • Some redness or sensitivity is normal and usually subsides within a few hours.
  • Apply soothing creams or aloe vera if needed.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure, hot showers, or vigorous exercise for 24–48 hours.
  • Follow up with sunscreen on treated areas exposed to the sun.

5. Repeat Sessions

  • Multiple treatments (usually 6–8 sessions) are required for optimal results, as hair grows in cycles.
  • Sessions are spaced 4–6 weeks apart to target new hair growth.

After completing your sessions, you’ll enjoy smooth, long-lasting results with minimal upkeep!

How long does laser hair removal take?

Laser hair removal treatments usually take around 30 minutes, but can be longer depending on the amount of area treated.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Laser hair removal is relatively painless, with only minor discomfort.

Is there any downtime with laser hair removal?

For most patients there is no need to take time off from your busy schedule for recovery or downtime. You can leave your appointment and go about your day with little to no interruption.

How many laser hair treatments will I need?

Most people require multiple laser hair treatments, but different hair colors and types can require more. Our recommendation for laser hair treatment sessions depend on various factors. Schedule a free consultation to determine how many treatments you’ll need.

Who is a Candidate for Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal is for hair with color; gray, white, or red hair will not be detected by the laser and will not treat the hair permanently.  Dark hair has long-lasting, almost permanent results. Waxing, plucking, or topical hair removal should to be avoided prior to treatment for the laser to be successful.  If the follicle is removed the treatment is ineffective. The area being treated should be cleanly shaved and must stay out of the sun following the treatment.
